Joe Davies:
Joe Davies may be a bit obsessed, but whatever you call it, he follows is passions. He eats, sleeps, and breaths fly fishing, particularly in the summer evenings when that smallmouth bite is on. Joe is a former US Freestyle Ski Team member and eventually became an Olympic Coach both with the US Freestyle Ski Team and the Australian Freestyle Ski Team. During his time living in New Zealand, he took up Fly Fishing and hasn't really looked back. Honing his skills on finicky gin clear water browns of NZ and native cutthroat and a myriad of other species found in the rivers of the west, where he called home for most of his 30's. After his Coaching Career, Joe drove across the western US for 10 weeks, putting his feet in every fabled trout river he had ever read about. And when a last minute invite to chase Tarpon for 6 days in Costa Rica... Joe said "yes" and stayed for almost 2 months in the jungle fly fishing for Tarpon. Joe returned to Wisconsin and feels at home now. Joe has fallen in love again with the state he grew up in and has fully embraced all the amazing fly fishing that Wisconsin has to offer. He says, "The amount of phenomenal fishing available within our state is hard to find in other places." Joe guides for a plethora of species, from lake run trout and salmon from Fall though the late Spring, smallmouth bass, northern pike, carp through the Spring to late Fall and musky in the Spring and Fall. As a former Coach, Joe has always embraced the teaching aspect of being a Guide, really enjoying teaching brand new anglers, living by the mantra of "if that individual doesn't step off your boat a better angler, you didn't do your job right."

Pete Nicoloff:
Pete Nicoloff founded Milwaukee River Fly Fishing to introduce people to the joys of river fishing and to showcase southeast Wisconsin's outdoor opportunities. There are few people whom genuinely love and cherish the oudoors other than Pete, and he feels so fortunate to share the beauty of the Milwaukee River with so many people. Pete is a husband, and father who loves to fish, paddle, row, and dive in our beautiful waters. He enjoys working within the community to provide opportunities to get kids and adults on the water and volunteering with Milwaukee Riverkeeper. Pete primarily guides for smallmouth, pike, and musky and spends most of his time on the upper sections of the Milwaukee River and her smaller tributaries where it is more common to see eagles, cranes, mink, and deer than people.

Seth Peterson:
This is Seth's second year of guiding for Milwaukee River Fly Fishing, guiding for the myriad of species that inhabit the Milwaukee River. With great knowledge of the states waterways, Seth brings a fresh set of eyes and techniques to the crew. Seth was a former fishing manager and instructor at Orvis Milwaukee where later he found his home with us. Growing up on a channel outside the small town of Winneconne found himself, Seth was obsessed with figuring out how to put fish in the net at the young age of 5. His dad purchased him his first boat when he was only 9 years old, with the only condition being he wouldn’t go out on the lake, which he never kept. After getting off the school bus each day he would always throw his backpack in the yard and enthusiastically sprint to his boat and get right to fishing no matter the conditions. No doubt, Seth possesses a genuine passion for angling and his stoke is infectious. After high school, Seth immersed himself in the world of fly fishing, mentored by his close friend Levi Metz. Seth is a remarkable trout angler, having a vast knowledge of Wisconsin's river systems. Having landed close to the Milwaukee River, he has fallen in love with this waterway and has completely embraced the world of catching the smallmouth and pike that inhabit the river. Seth is also a remarkable fly tier, constructing his flies specifically for the stretches of the Milwaukee River that he guides on. He has always taken pride in the fact that he has only ever used flys that he has tied himself or were gifted from other anglers close to him. There is no doubt he will have an effective arsenal of flies on the boat for you. No doubt, Seth knows how to treat people right and he always keeps an overly positive and optimistic vibe throughout the trip.

While catching fish is never a guarantee, it is not uncommon to have double digit pike and bass days during the summer and fall.
Protecting the fish and wildlife who depend on our local waterways is the number one goal. Doug Duren, one of Wisconsin's modern conservationists, says, "It's not ours, it's just our turn." We must act as stewards of the land and water. While I do enjoy eating a fresh catch of fish and believe in the Wisconsin DNR bag limits, Milwaukee River Fly Fishing is strictly a catch and release operation. The rivers in this area are on the upswing after centuries of pollution and man-made structures compromised their vitality, and Milwaukee River Fly Fishing does not want to threaten them in anyway.
