Pete Nicoloff founded Milwaukee River Fly Fishing to introduce people to the joys of river fishing and to showcase southeast Wisconsin's outdoor opportunities. Pete is a husband, and father who loves to fish, paddle, row, and dive in our beautiful waters. He enjoys working within the community to provide opportunities to get kids and adults on the water and volunteering with Milwaukee Riverkeeper. Pete primarily guides for smallmouth, pike, and musky and spends most of his time on the upper sections of the Milwaukee River and her smaller tributaries where it is more common to see eagles, cranes, mink, and deer than people.

Joe Davies is a bum, a true smallmouth dirtbag. He eats, sleeps, and breaths fly fishing. When not on the water Joe is working at the local fly shop or tying flies for his next day on the water. Joe is a former Olympic skier and coach. During his time training in Utah and New Zealand, Joe honed his skills on finicky gin clear water browns and native cutthroat. After his skiing career Joe returned to Wisconsin and hasn’t looked back. He says, "The amount of phenomenal fishing available within our state is hard to find in other places." Joe guides for lake run trout and salmon, Driftless trout, smallmouth bass, northern pike, carp, and musky.

Rick Phetsavong was born and raised in the Twin Cities where he grew up chasing largemouth bass and musky in area ponds and lakes. Rick developed an addiction for chasing fish on a fly rod. He can be found tight line nymphing for trout in the Driftless, swinging flies for lake run steelhead on the Milwaukee and Brule Rivers, stalking carp in urban streams, and stripping streamers around the Midwest for big smallmouth, pike, and musky Rick is a professional weightlifting coach and amateur chef. He excels at teaching two-handed casting, Euro techniques, and cooking gourmet river lunches. Rick’s goal is to create an inclusive fishing environment that is fun and adaptable to anyone.

Brad Harkey has lived and fished the waters in and around southeastern Wisconsin nearly all his life. After pursuing anything that would bite with a spin rod, he quickly gravitated toward chasing fish exclusively with the fly rod. Nowadays, you can find him roaming the state (and beyond), in search of pike, musky, smallmouth, and brown trout. Brad specializes in small stream fishing and mousing for big Driftless brown trout at night. If you are looking for a gnarly river rat to get you on fish, Brad is your dude. When his boots aren't wet, he's most likely tying flies at his vise or scouring over maps in anticipation of his next adventure.
While catching fish is never a guarantee, it is not uncommon to have double digit pike and bass days during the summer and fall.
Protecting the fish and wildlife who depend on our local waterways is the number one goal. Doug Duren, one of Wisconsin's modern conservationists, says, "It's not ours, it's just our turn." We must act as stewards of the land and water. While I do enjoy eating a fresh catch of fish and believe in the Wisconsin DNR bag limits, Milwaukee River Fly Fishing is strictly a catch and release operation. The rivers in this area are on the upswing after centuries of pollution and man-made structures compromised their vitality, and Milwaukee River Fly Fishing does not want to threaten them in anyway.
